Geothermal Heat Pump Maintenance
Ground source heat pumps are durable and require little maintenance because they are relatively simple and have fewer mechanical components than other systems. The majority of the components of a geothermal heat pump system are either built into the GSHP cabinet itself or are buried underground:
- On average, commercial building owners can expect maintenance cost savings in the neighborhood of 25-50% for geothermal over conventional heating and cooling systems
- Use of a GSHP system will reduce the possibility of theft or vandalism to the system because no outdoor equipment is required.
- Since they are not exposed to the extremes of weather, ground source heat pumps are not succeptible to the affects of accelerated deterioration found in the coils of air source heat pumps and standard air conditioning units.
